Mirinda
Orange felicitated six bands: V3, Oxygen, Zinx, Agam, Madras
Tunes and Srishti as the winners of the musical talent hunt show
'Mirinda Ooh La La La'.
A R Rahman, the music impresario, himself
championed this search for over four months and was enthralled
by the talent; he adjudged six bands as the winners. In
partnership with Sun TV and SaReGaMa, Mirinda was the presenting
sponsor for the talent hunt show in Tamil Nadu. The evening was
enlivened with a scintillating dance performance on Rahman's
numbers in the presence of celebrities from the music industry.
Speaking on the initiative, Pratik Pota,
executive vice-president - Flavours, PepsiCo India, said, "Mirinda
as a brand is continuously initiating exciting and fun-filled
associations to communicate and bring alive the 'fun' attribute
of the brand aligning it to its new thought of 'Khushi In
Pudhiya Mandiram'."
"Music strikes a chord with today's youth and
we were positive that the show will help recognise hidden talent
of the youth and also build further connect with the brand," he
added.
The winner bands will get an exclusive
opportunity to cut and design their own music album with HMV-SaReGaMa,
the biggest name in the music industry.
"We would like to thank Mirinda 'Ooh La La
La' for giving us this wonderful opportunity to display our
talent. The results have been really a wonderful surprise for
all of us. Performing in front of A R Rahman was definitely once
in a lifetime opportunity and we strongly feel that platforms
like these encourage bands/artistes to come forward and prove
themselves," said one of the members of the winner bands.
The talent show was all about searching for
the best music group, not only singing talent, but complete
music performers on stage – vocal and instrumental. The bands
had their own distinctive style – be it rock, pop, light melody,
fusion, jazz or folk.
Mirinda 'Ooh La La La' received great
response from bands across the state. Nearly 100 bands were
auditioned out of which 18 were selected for the quarter-finals.
The auditions took place in six cities: Coimbatore,
Tiruchirapalli, Madurai, Chennai, Salem and Tirunelveli. The
talent show culminated in Chennai.
