Sri Hari |
There are a number of musicians and music directors who have sung the poems of national poet Subramania Bharati but an album with a difference has come from Srihari, who has recited 20 poems of Bharati, featured in a new album called 'Bharatiyar Recited'.
chennaionline.com takes great pride and pleasure in presenting these 20 poems in this unique concept of recitation as legal downloads as a special, exclusive package for Republic Day (Jan 26). You can burn this into a CD collection of your own and bask in the wave of patriotism and literary brilliance.
Symphony Recording Company has brought out this useful album. Srihari, who is actually a Punjabi called Rajesh Dhupad, came to Chennai in 1974 along with his parents and has learnt Tamil the hard way.
"Now, for all practical purposes I am a Tamilian, bringing out various Tamil devotional and Carnatic music albums (over 25) on behalf of my music company. Initially, I was attracted to Bharati's songs even without knowing the meaning. The sheer wave of patriotism and emotions aroused by Bharati moved me. Later, I began to go deep into the meaning, and soon I derived greater joy and a sense of satisfaction when I could follow his verses," said
Srihari.
The production of Bharatiyar Recited was a powerful and moving experience, says
Srihari.
"I thought Jan 26 - Republic Day - is the ideal day for release of the digital downloads so that people all over the world can draw inspiration from the national poet," said
Srihari.
The running time of these 20 verses is just under 40 minutes.
"I'm not aware of any such product of mere recitation of Bharati's poems. This album could be the first-of-its-kind," says
Srihari. Click
