February witnessed a two-day music festival in Dubai, jointly organised by The Indian Fine Arts Society, Dubai, and Music Lovers Association, Dubai.
The Saint Tyagaraja Aradhana was held on February 26 evening, at Sindhi Community Hall, Dubai.
Sampradaya and Pancharatna Kritis were rendered by vidwans P S Narayanaswamy, Seerkazhi
R Jayaraman, Thiruvengadu A Jayaraman, C Lakshminarayanan, (violin) U P Raju (mandolin) D Govindarajan (mirudangam). Local vidwans and vidushis participated in large numbers.
On February 27 morning, the music festival 'Tribute to Trinity' was celebrated at the Indian Consulate Auditorium, Dubai. The same vidwans gave a one-hour individual concert each on the Trinity's compositions and in the evening, U P Raju gave a solo mandolin concert.
Accompanists for both concerts were C Lakshminarayanan on the violin and D Govindarajan on the mridangam. At the end of the function, all the vidwans were honoured by the organisations that arranged the
concerts.
Rasikas participated in huge numbers during the festival.
