Vijey Yesudhas cuts first album
The first solo album of Vijey
Yesudhas, son of the popular Carnatic musician and playback singer K J Yesudhas, containing a collection of devotional songs on Lord Ayyappa, was released by maestro
Ilayaraja and veteran music director
M S Viswanathan in Chennai on November 16, 2004.
Ilayaraja, in his brief speech, left no one in doubt about the extent of his knowledge in music and spirituality. He pointed out in music alone, one can go backwards -- sa ri ga ma pa tha ni sa, and in reverse fashion -- and yet make sense, unlike in a language form. That is why music is considered great. Not everyone can be a successful musician. It is definitely a gift from the previous birth, he felt.
The album of K J Yesudhas, Pandhalathu Raja, his latest Ayyappa songs, was also released on the occasion. Lyrics and music are by Gangai Amaren. The cassette is priced at Rs 45.
Vijay performed some of the numbers of his album 'Sharam Kuthi' and also from his father's album on the cccasion. Vijay's album has lyrics by Kadhal Madhi and music by newcomer Lal Krishna, (who is the lyricist of the Malayalam version).
'Sharam Kuthi' has been released by Amplify More, a label from Yesudhas Media Pvt Ltd, from the Tarangni stable.
The songs rendered by Vijey are Pamba Ganapathiye, Kaliyuga Varadanaam, Hariharan Puthraa nin, Pandala Rajakumaraa, Sakala Theerthangallum, Shabareesha Sannidhi, Ambalappuzha, Padinettu Padimeethe, Irumudi Kettumaai and Swami Nnaamam. The cassette is priced at Rs 35.
