Devotional

Vijey Yesudhas cuts first album

The first solo album of Vijey Yesudhas, son of the popular Carnatic musician and playback singer K J Yesudhas, containing a collection of devotional songs on Lord Ayyappa, was released by maestro Ilayaraja and veteran music director M S Viswanathan in Chennai on November 16, 2004.

Ilayaraja, in his brief speech, left no one in doubt about the extent of his knowledge in music and spirituality. He pointed out in music alone, one can go backwards -- sa ri ga ma pa tha ni sa, and in reverse fashion -- and yet make sense, unlike in a language form. That is why music is considered great. Not everyone can be a successful musician. It is definitely a gift from the previous birth, he felt.
