Music quiz
 For the past three years, www.sangeetham.com, the well-known portal on Carnatic music, in association with Charsur Digital Workstation, has been conducting heritage tours around areas concerned with music during the Chennai cultural season and these are popular. Sangeetham has also been conducting quizzes for the past four years on the website and has also released a book of quiz questions in Carnatic music.
Adding to the package of offerings for the season, uplifting it from a mere concert-attending spree, is a Carnatic Music Quiz that is being organised at Chettinad Vidyashram on December 14. This is a unique event and is the first of its kind.
The Transworld Group of Companies, which has come forward to lend its support to fine arts, is sponsoring the event. The event is being jointly organised by Charsur Digital Workstation and www.sangeetham.com
The target audience will be Carnatic music lovers of all age groups. Registration forms will be made available at prominent locations all over the city and on the web through
www.sangeetham.com. The first 50 registration forms will be accepted for the preliminary round. While submitting their forms, participants will have to pay Rs 25 per form.
Teams will comprise three members and a preliminary round will select a set of eight teams as finalists. The preliminaries and the final will be held on the same day over a period of three hours.
The quiz will have a combination of questions, audio, visual and video rounds and will involve the latest technological advancements in multimedia, thereby making it a high-profile event. There will be prizes for the first three teams and consolation prizes for the other qualifying teams and the audience. Prizes worth Rs 50,000 are up for grabs.
