 'Kovilpatti Veeralakshmi', the blockbuster movie that caught much media attention during its release, comes on the small screen through Vijay TV on 4th July 2004 at 1130 hrs.
Simran, the reigning queen of Tamil and Telugu cinema, who played the lead in some of the biggest hits like

Madhavan and so on has performed the significant lead role in this real-life based movie ‘Kovilpatti Veeralakshmi’. She, in fact, bagged the Best Actress Award in the 22nd Cinema Express Awards for her portrayal in Manirathnam’s ‘Kannathil
Muthamittal’.

Dalit woman, Veeralaksmi who takes on the law and the might of a caste dominated society in the village of Kovilpatti with her willpower and the much needed weapon in her hand to fight for her rights and others too. 'Kovilpatti Veeralakshmi' is more like the South's answer to Shekhar Kapoor's 'Bandit Queen.'
This out-and-out Simran film, which hit an emotional high with both the urban and rural public of Tamil Nadu during its release in July 2003, boasts of a success story in box-office, with the press and the public alike for its gripping story line. Simran’s heart-wrenching, realistic portrayal of the oppressed Dalit woman, who fights against her tormentors, demands wide appreciation.
The male stars in this movie include Sonu (Nominee, SCREEN Awards-2003-Best Actor for his role in Bhagat Singh), Alex (Winner of the Cinema Express Awards-2003), Sanjay, Vadivelu, Abhinaya Sree and Baby Hema.
