Hariharan presents ‘Soul India’

ne of India’s leading singers, Hariharan, will present a fusion extravaganza called ‘Soul India’ at Kamarajar Arangam in Chennai on September 13.
The programme, in aid of Vidyasagar, will comprise Ghazals, Thumris, Dadras, Khayals, and a few Tamil-Hindi film songs.
Tickets (priced at Rs 1,000 and Rs 2,000) are available through chennaionline.com besides outlets like Landmark at Spencer Plaza and Mahatma Gandhi Salai (Nungambakkam High Road) and Music World at Spencer Plaza.

Hariharan’s ‘Soul India’ was premiered at Esplanade in Singapore on November 9 and 10, 2002. The presentation encompasses Hariharan’s total range and style.
The concert will begin with a Khayal, which transforms into film songs, and flows into Thumri, mixes with a Ghazal and continues its journey. The presentation is for a two-hour duration.
He will be accompanied by a fusion band of 10 musicians and Mahalakshmi Iyer, who has rendered several film songs in Tamil in the recent past.
The instruments used are keyboard, drums, sarangi, tabla, guitars, harmonium, Indian flute, English flute and saxophone.
Special lighting and sound effects are used to add an ethnic ambience to the show.
