Awards for Srinivas, Anoorada

At a glittering ceremony held in Malaysia recently, the International Tamil Film Awards were presented. Playback singers Srinivas, Anoorada Sriram, Karthik and Chinmayi were among those who were presented awards at the function.

Srinivas bagged the male playback singer in the Tamil film category for the year 2002. The award was for excellent rendition of the song 'Apple Penne Nee Yaro' in the film 'Rojakoottam', music for which was scored by Bharadwaj.

The best female singer award went to Anoorada Sriram for one of the biggest hits in recent times, 'O Podu' in Gemini (music for this film too was handled by Bharadwaj).

In the newcomers' category, Karthik won the award among males (he had sung many hit songs including numbers in 'Baba') while Chinmayi was selected as the best female singer in this category for her soulful rendering of the title song in 'Kannathil Muthamittal' (music by A R Rehman).

All the four singers were present at the ceremony in Malaysia on October 12.
