Strings and strains
Veena
prodigy E Gaayathri launched an album featuring instrumental
renditions of hits from classic Hindi films, titled 'A Voyage of
Inspiration', at Music World showroom in Chennai. The first copy
was received by Kalaimamani P B Sreenivas, president, lyalisai
Nataka Manram, and renowned cine playback singer of yesteryear.
The album is 4th in a unique series of the Music World label and
follows equally popular renditions of Lalitha Sahasranamam and
Kanakadhara Stotram, Saundarya Lahari and Sri Vishnu Sahasranamam
and Bhaja Govindam. The CDs are priced at Rs 150 and cassettes at
Rs 45.
Briefing
reporters, Gaayathri said, "Veena is the only instrument that
comes closest to a human voice in bringing out the inner voice of
the artiste and capable of conveying every emotion rendered by the
human voice. Hence, the veena is the only complete instrument and
one that requires rational, analaytical thinking capabilities and
yet requires gentle feminine touch for the music to come alive. In
this album, the songs have been chosen after careful and
considerate deliberation and the rendition does justice to the
voice of the nightingale of the film world, Lata Mangeshkar. All
the lilt, the caress and supple feeIings of Lataji's voice have
been reproduced allmost as originally as is feasible."
S
K Chowdhury, general manager, Music World Entertainment Ltd,
observed that Music World was now bringing out albums under its
own banner and this has proved to be extremely popular with
music-lovers across India. These albums are exclusive and are not
available in any other presentations by the same artistes. ' A
Voyage of Inspiration' is yet another move in this direction.
Veena
Gaayathri is popular not only among music-lovers of south India
but across the world. Her renditions inspire music-lovers,
transporting them to heights of ecstacy and her gnana is
unparalleled. Now a whole new fan following in north India is
being unleashed, with the Hindi-speaking belt being exposed to the
talents of Gaayathri with this album.
This first
recording by her under the Music World label involving film
melodies is hence aptly titled, 'A Voyage of Inspiration'.
