Fresh Breath of Music
 Music is, essentially, a fine and complex art of making compositions through acceptable, melodious, rhythmic and harmonious sounds that can combine well to impress the creator’s emotions most favourably on his discerning public for a more expressively and quickly than any other art.
Eight teen-agers, Girinandh (17: Western Keyboard Artiste), Jhanu Chanthar (17: guitarist), Prithivi (15: drums), Sunder (18:bess guitarist), Karthick (18: violinist), Arnirudh Athereya (15: Kanjira artiste), Ramana (19: konnakkol mridangam) and Harish (17: carantic keyboard artiste) have brought out their debut fusion album titled ‘Oxygen – O2’.
This invigorating and refreshing album was released on Tuesday (May 18) evening at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Chennai, before a distinguished, knowledgeable gathering. Srinivas (playback singer), Manikanth Kadri (music director), Steev Vatz (guitarist) and Bharath (Bob Gally of ‘Boys’ fame) were the ‘Guests of
Honour’.
The function started late. But happily, the speeches were short, sweet and to the point. Self avowedly, the honourable guests were not too happy at speech making. This was followed by a brief, live performance by the octad band who played seven album numbers (Vathapi Ganapathim, Dimenions Silverstorm, rist, intensity, Path of list and Power chords). With the judicious use of a wide range of instruments intelligent changes of time and volume, together and separately, generating in the listener subtle and extensive series of feelings and moods. Some were gay, some were rousing, some were lightening. The title signified tributes to well-known compositions.
The O2 Band is the youngest band of its type in the country. The group has brought out this fusion album after “innumerable discussions and practice sessions decided the track.” It is the proud claim of this teen-oxygen–band that through this offering they have highlighted the universality of instrumental music besides evoking the grandeur of fusion music.
Guest- artiste Steve Vatz obliged with a request number on the guitar. The ‘O2’ Group has a bright future.
