Inspired by the article on the site on Gnanambika and its presiding Jayaraman, we have received a kriti on Arusuvai by email by a person who calls himself Konai Kavirayar. The song is a wee bit dated as it states that Arusuvai stands at the entrance to the Academy. It is now over five years since he darkened its doors. But the song is still interesting.
We are reproducing it below
Shri sivakami patim bhajeham satatam
vidwat sabha prabalyam sangita rasika priyam
Academy dwarasthanam gnanananda pujita jayaramanujam
mridangadi tala vadya nipuna shapanugraha patram
kashi shridanyakshetra prasada pacanti nipunam
rucikara bija patradi panaka kriyam gaura vastra dharanam
I pray to Natarajan who is popular at the Academy and is dear to sangita
rasikas!
One who is outside the Academy's main door, and brother of Jayaraman who is Gnanananda's disciple (who manages canteen at Narada Gana
Sabha)!
One who is always hated by Mridangam and other tala vadya artistes (people walk into canteen during
tani)!
One who is an expert in cooking kashi halwa (halwa is referred to as sridanyakshetra prasadam.. shridanyam -> tirunel, Tirunelveli prasadam is halwa) and one who is an expert in brewing great coffee and always wears white clothes (khadar shirt and
veshti)
