The
Governor released the annual souvenir of Bharat Kalachar which was received by Y

young artistes in various fields and he hoped that in a few years' time they
would go on to receive the Kalaimamani awards of the state government.
Responding
to Sudharani Raghupathy's observation that she was often described as ageless
though she was a grandmother, the Governor pointed out that it is a general
perception that a woman is not seen as old, at any rate is not seen as more than
29 years old. Sudharani, in that context, looks only 29, he said.
Bharat Kalachar secretary Y G
Mahendra said he was a grandfather too but no one said he was just 29 years old.
The 34-day mela at Bharat Kalachar till January 14 would be a cultural feast, he
added. An attraction this year would be the canteen of Arusuvai Natarajan, he
said.
Manjula Lusti Narasimhan
thanked the organisers for conferring titles on the young artistes.
