The 11th year of Srirangam Fine Arts Music Festival got under way at the Raga Sudha Hall on December 6. The Laya Kalaratna award was conferred on veteran mridangist Srimushnam V Raja
Rao.
In addition the title of Sangita Kala Ratna was conferred on vocalist T N Seshagopalan and violinist M S Gopalakrishnan. Sirkazhi C Sivachidambaram, the president of the sabha, spoke on the occasion.
