You seem to be in high spirits today, what’s
the reason, said my husband noticing that I was in an exuberant
mood.
Do I look so transparent, I said feeling glad
that he was able to make out that I was literally in ninth
heaven.
It doesn’t require any extraordinary
intelligence to know a woman’s feelings from her expression,
especially if she happens to be your wife, he commented.
O.K. Try to guess the reason, I prompted.
He thought for a while and asked, did you go
shopping with your friend and squandered my hard earned money on
jewellery or sarees?
Certainly not, you know that I am not a
compulsive shopper like so many other women, I retorted.
Then did you and your friends treat
yourselves to a five-star lunch, at “my” expense, he asked a
little concerned.
You should have known me by now that I don’t
make such demands on “your” purse, I said a little offended.
Not wanting him to make anymore guesses, I
said, You know, my friend came from the US this morning and we
had a wonderful time together.
Oh, I am glad you did, he said indifferently.
Is she someone I had met before, he asked in
the same tone.
No, I don’t think so. By the way, it is not a
“she” but a “he”, I informed and he believed in celebrating the
‘National Hugging Day’, that is today, the 21st, in its true
spirit and style.
Let me know when the fellow is coming next. I
will demonstrate to him how “we” celebrate our ‘National Bugging
Day’ in its true spirit and style, said my husband with a
thoroughly annoyed expression.
