Three in one
Three
artists from three different backgrounds and professions came
together to exhibit their works on April 21 at Vinyasa Art
Gallery, Music Academy.
The paintings of three
artists, K Balasubramaniyan, a painter in Stanley Medical College, K G Narendrababu, another painter in Weavers
Service, Kancheepuram, and N
Srinivasan, a faculty of Anna University, are united by the medium
of art.
The paintings of the trio
were so attractive that people were not able to move their eyes from
one to another. Especially, the painting of Balasubramaniyan, titled 'Panchabootham', describing the five
elements of Nature 'water, land, fire, sky and air'. One of his paintings depicts that if one controls these five
elements, he/she can attain 'moksha'.
Narendrababu's paintings, titled
'Dream Series' were also excellent. His paintings described the old
sculptures, idols and vimanas in temples. According to him, he wants to give life to the sculptures and idols through
his paintings.
N
Srinivasan belongs to the next generation of artists. He uses
his digital experience to express himself through art. His paintings are all computer
graphics. The Seetha-Ramar painting with Hanuman at the feet of Ramar was an excellent piece.
It would have definitely taken him a lot of time to choose the
wide range of colours.
The painting exhibition was inaugurated by Anna University Vice-Chancellor E Balagurusamy. Speaking at the function, he said
attending functions was a routine thing for me, but inaugurating
an exhibition of creative work was something different.
Balagurusamy urged parents
to encourage their young ones to display their creativity. "I tell schools to engage students in
creativity."
"The artists have joined together for wonderful creativity, people joining together and working is a difficult job, that too in a creative job like this is a rare phenomenon. I appreciate all the three
artists," he said.
Susheela Balagurusamy said,
"We wish that the creativity of the trio will come on to a larger platform."
I Raja, DIG,
(Coastal Security group CID) said, "in the past, kings felicitated artists and presented them with gold coins and other things which they
sought. Painting starts where photography ends, artists give life to lifeless ones."
Artist
Balasubramaniyan is a post-graduate diploma holder from the Government
College of Fine Arts, Chennai, and has conducted many art shows, including
an exhibition of fresco tiles at Jaipur, participated in the national exhibition of art at New
Delhi and Indian Pallet by
contemporary painters at Belgium.
Narendrababu is also a post-graduate diploma holder from
the Government College of Fine Arts, Chennai. He has also
participated in several art exhibitions, including the Festival of India at
USA and Bangladesh Biennale Exhibition and many more.
This exhibition of Narendrababu's works show him at his artistic best. He has cut out painted bits of canvas, folded them adroitly at the edges and pasted them on the canvas with a firm adhesive to give the collage a sculptural effect.
N
Srinivasan is a bachelor of fine arts painting and now works as a faculty in
the Architecture Department at Anna University. He has 13 years'
experience in fine arts with digital technology. During this period, he has worked as art director, artist, web designer, senior

He also has participated in various exhibitions at Lalit
Kala Academy Regional Centre, Chennai, Chitrakalaparishad, South Zone Cultural Centre, Balbhavan, Bhopal, Lalit Kala Academy Kala Mela, New Delhi & Chennai. He has done digital photographic documentations for the office of the President of India, Vice-President of India, Chennai Raj Bhavan,
