Kochi trio’s Bharata Sandhya
 Three students of ‘Dharani School of Performing Arts, Cochin - Reshma George, Anita Jose and K V Rajesh - gave an impressive
Bharatanatyam recital, titled ‘Bharatha Sandhya’ under the patronage of Kalanidhi Narayanan’s ‘Abhinayasudha’ of Chennai, at the Raga Sudha hall,
Mylapore, recently. The programme was an anniversary homage to late Y G Doraiswamy (brother of late YGP), a distinguished connoisseur of fine arts of his time.
All the three dancers have had years of experience in this classical form. This was very much in evidence during the 90-minute programme that comprised a
Natyanjali, a Sabdam, a 25-minute Varnam (Rupamu Juchi-Thodi-Adi), a Padam each by the three dancers - ‘Krishna Nee Begane’: Yaman Kalyani, Misra Chapu by Reshma; 'Anandha nadam’: Kedaragaula - Adi by Rajesh; and ‘Yarukkaakhilum Bhayamaa’: Begada, Misra chaapu, by Anita, and a group Thillana in
Khamas.
All the three adhered strictly to the fundamental principles of classical Bharatanatyam, both as a group, and also as solo performers. Innovative choreographer and ‘Dharani’ managing trustee Shyamala Surendran had trained all the three quite commendably. The dance was to recorded music.
 Rajesh is a teacher-student at Dharani School of Performing Arts, Kochi, and is also well-trained in Kathakali and
Carnatic
Music. Anita, backed by 11 years of dedicated experience, is an economics graduate and has performed creditably in
Germany as recently as in July 2004.
Reshma, the reigning Miss Kerala (2004), is a third-year student (IT) of Rajaguru School of Engineering & Technology, Kochi.
Chief guest Rashmi (Mrs YGP) was so pleased with the performance of the ‘Dharani’ group that she invited them to perform at
Bharat Kalachar during the oncoming Chennai Festival Season in Dec 2004-Jan 2005 - a well-deserved invitation.
