Now that January 1st has come and gone, I think I should write
about what New Year really means to me. In short, it is just
another day, over hyped by the public and marketed by stationery
companies, much like Valentines Day. Unlike February 14th, I am
glad January 1st is a holiday. It gives me another day at home
instead of at work.
An interview with myself on New Year’s Day for Vini’s Corner
readers,
What did I do on New Years day this year?
I stayed at home, got done with household chores, wrote a
few articles for my blogs and Vinis Corner and caught up with
some specials on Sun TV.
Did I head out for a lavish New Year dinner at one of the
Houston’s top spots?
No. I don’t believe in shelling out $$$s for a normal dinner
just because I eat on New Year’s Eve.
Did I stay up till 12 and welcome 2008?
Am sorry to say no. I was fast asleep by my usual time and I
just don’t believe in staying up till midnight to welcome the
so-called New Year.
Did I cook something special? Or order special cakes and
food for the day?
Again, No . I know a lot of people do it. But I think it is
really stupid. I don’t need the excuse of New Year to cook/eat
special food. But if someone offers me yummy food in the name of
New Year, I sure will not be saying no
Did I make any resolution?
I don’t make resolutions for the New Year. But it does not mean
I never make them. I make resolutions when I realize I need some
guidelines to follow to make my life and the life of others
around me better. And in that way, my recent resolution was to
enjoy and protect the diverse ecosystem we live in, live more
“green” and reduce my carbon footprint.
Did I send out greetings/ecards?
Yes of course! Like every other person I spammed the mail boxes
of all my friends with a greeting. Well of course I meant it
when I wished them to have a wonderful 2008 filled with love and
happiness. I wish that for all my friends not just on New Years
day but everyday throughout life.
Hope you did everything you really wanted to on New Years
day, be it stay at home and sleep like me, or party wild till
midnight! Whatever it was, enjoy every minute and cherish every
memory! Life is but short!
