I am just another working woman. I work 8 hours a day, 5 days a
week and try to find a balance between, my work, home and my
interests in life. Many a times I end the day exhausted and
wondering if I had done something wrong. The others make it look
so simple, while I perpetually have the to-do list running
miles. Sometimes I wish there were 48 hours a day to fit in all
the numerous things I need to do and then I see people who seem
to be content with 24 hours and even find a couple of hours to
hit the gym and relax! I really envy them at times.
I am not complaining it is just priorities
and preferences. I love my day packed with activities and things
I enjoy and I try not to crib about it too much. I typically
pack my week with tons of things to do and after 4 days of
rushing from point to point by the time Friday comes I am all
set for a relaxing evening - early to bed and late to rise on
Saturday mornings. Bliss! Pure nirvana I call it!
I wait for Fridays and I wait impatiently for
the clock to strike 5 on Fridays. As I zip past the crowded
roads of Houston on Friday evenings, all I think is about sleep
and relaxation. I don't think about what to wear, where to go,
what to shop, what to cook or anything else. I just get myself
home, get into comfortable clothes, watch the sun go down, enjoy
a good book and let myself sleep into oblivion.
But almost every Friday, I encounter these
people, who make it a point to ask me what my plans are for the
evening. The preferred activities for Friday evenings, I have
learned including a trip to the bowling alley, late night
movies, catching a Broadway show or at least a leisurely long
dinner with friends and loved ones! And when my colleagues/
friends tell me their plans and ask me about mine, I just wonder
where they get the energy from?
Am I the only one, who stays at home on
Friday evenings and sleeps? Does it mean I am just too lazy or
might be I am just doing something wrong? I still cannot
comprehend how people find the energy and josh to head out on
Friday nights, the fag end of the week. Might be I am just wired
differently. And as I type this, I look at my calendar and
countdown days for my lazy Friday evening to begin. Ahh! It
makes every minute of my crazy week worth it!
