Dancing to Wings' tunes
The grand finale of Wings 'Konjam Move Konjam Groove' inter-collegiate dance contest 2003 was organised at Madras University Centenary Hall. The contest was exclusively organised by Wings, the pre-paid brand of RPG Cellular Services Limited and designed to provide a platform for students of Chennai to display their dance talent in front of a large and discerning audience.
More than 30 teams, each comprising 4-8 students, participated in the event which was announced three weeks ago and generated a lot of interest and excitement in all the colleges.
The first round of the contest started at 11 a.m. This round was brought alive by all the participating teams dancing with props to the tunes of popular Tamil film music. The second round saw one more dance performance from each of the teams. The judges also ascertained the teams' knowledge by asking them questions about dance. The two rounds were judged by popular movie choreographers Lawrence, Allaudin Sridhar and John Babu. Finally, six teams made it to the final round.
After the darnce performance by the talented students of Chennai professional choreographers and singers of Kollywood took over. There were live performances by prominent movie artistes like S P B Charan, Yugendran and Venkat Prabhu. Popular film actor Srikanth was the chief guest of the evening.
