Bike Puranam - 1
Every dude on the block has a bike. Every dude loves his
bike. And of cos he does not exactly
ride it with care and concern!
Let's have a look at the lot of dude
bikes (geared) available in the market -
'Hey u, I'm Defintely Male'-
Bajaj Pulsar
Introduced barely two years ago, this has caught the fancy of every teenager, male and female, living in Chennai, and elsewhere too. Initially introduced as 150 cc and 180 cc variants, and recently with the DTS-I launched, all the three variants have been mega-hits. Pulsar - No 1 in the dudes' list.

'Jet Set n Go buddy' -
Hero Honda Karizma
Designed as a sports bike,
the Karizma does have a lot of charisma and charm. It has a good number of
takers among the youth, setting the roads on fire too very often to police
maamaa's liking!
'The Cool Cee Bee Zee' - Hero Honda CBZ
Something that can be called an 'extinct piece of machinery'. Was a huge hit till Mr Defintely Male Pulsar came rumbling along. Old-timers still love it for its power and looks. A new, remodelled version of the CBZ is on the cards; this may pep up sales. Only time will tell if it will.
'Yo man, aint I attractive?' -
Yamaha Enticer
Dudes who love cruising at a steady speed love the Enticer. It certainly lives up to its name - this wonderful-looking piece of machinery.
'I'm for the Macho guys' - Royal Enfield
Strictly for big-built guys. For the 2k youth, the slick-yet-huge bikes on offer are The Electra, Thunderbird and Lightning. Anybody putting the main stand in any of these three bikes will be given a bike
free! (It's really, really tough)
'If looks could kill...' - Kawasaki-Bajaj Eliminator
Unconfirmed reports say that this is the BEST looking bike in India. It's got looks of a
Shah Rukh and a Hrithik combined! So, why was it a flop?
-
Cost - Far too high. Rumour has it that it cost Rs 1 lakh at one point of time. One might as well buy a used car!
-
Looks similar to the less-expensive Enticer (except the super square mirrors and low seating).

All these classes of bikes are priced above 50k and cater to the middle-class and rich Yo-guys. Next week, let's see what geared bikes there are below 50k.
