Dubbed with a difference

Harbance Kumar (aka Mickey Nivelli)Dubbing English films in various Indian languages is nothing new. But here comes an English film dubbed in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi, but with a difference. 'Plots with A View', an English film, will now not only be dubbed in three Indian languages but will also have eight songs incorporated in it. Says Harbance Kumar (aka Mickey Nivelli), a producer-director in his own right, and the Indian distributor of 'Plots with a View', "I happened to see this film at the Cannes International Film Festival, and was struck by the Indianness of its theme. I bought the distribution rights for India, made some slight changes, and incorporated eight songs in it." The Hindi version is titled 'Khoya Bachpan Mila Pyar', while the Tamil and the Telugu versions are titled as 'Anbe Sugham' and 'Preme Jeevitham' respectively. The south versions under dubbing-in-charge N Ram's supervision, has singers Gopal Rao and Chinmayi singing the songs. A unique experiment, one has to wait and watch if it works!

Sabu Cyril into direction

Sabu CyrilHe is a two-time national award winner, and is known for the meticulous and imaginative designing of the sets for films (the recent 'Boys'). Now Sabu Cyril takes a break from his sets, and ventures into his first directorial effort. It's a Malayalam film Sabu's going to direct. Titled 'Anantha Badhram', it's the cellulloid adaptation of the award winning novel of the same name, written by Sunil Parameshwaran, and currently being serialised in the Manorama weekly. Produced by actor-producer Maniyanpillai Raju, the film has music by Vidyasagar and camerawork by Thiru. Sabu who has roped in a strong cast of Prithwiraj, Manoj K Jayan, Biju Menon and Meera Jasmin, calls his film a 'psychological thriller". Having established a formidable reputation as a set designer in southern cinema and Hindi films too, one is sure Sabu would carry the same meticulousness in planning his first directorial venture.

Sonia AgarwalIt was disturbing news. That pretty Sonia Agarwal was manhandled and grazed with a blade during one of her shootings. The incident reportedly happened when Sonia was shooting for the Srikant-starrer, 'Chathurangam', at the Besant Nagar beach, Chennai. There was a crowd of spectators around, and apparently one of them tore her blouse, while another grazed her with a blade. But Sonia denies it and claims that the fans treated her with affection and respect. 'They only shook hands with me! Nothing untoward happened. I can't understand why someone would want to spread such gossip!"
