One film, four cameramen
 Director-turned-hero Cheran's new venture, 'Autograph', depicts four stages in the life of the character he plays. While Malayalam actress Gopika, and Sneha play the female leads, Cheran has four cinematographers for his film. The first part, picturised in Kerala, has cinematographer Vijay Milton taking charge. The second part, shot in the rural areas of Tamil Nadu, near Palani and Dindigul, has Ravi Varman cranking the camera. The scenes which were shot in Chennai has cameraman Dwaraknath behind the camera. The fourth stage of the character, to be shot again in Kerala, will be cranked by Priyan. A new experiment, indeed!

Doing Dad a favour
 While heroes raise their fees after a film is successful at the box office, there is one actor who reportedly doesn't do this. Silambarasan, with father T Rajendar being a distributor, seems well aware of the problems faced by distributors. "And any hike in Simbu's fee will ultimately fall on the head of the distributors," says the father. Post-Dhum, Simbu did get many offers, but Rajendar refused to be tempted to hike his son's remuneration. The grapevine is that Rajendar rarely visits his son's sets while he is shooting. Star-fathers can take a lesson or two from this!

Break a leg, Prabhu Deva
 Here's some good news for Prabhu Deva fans. The actor, who had no films to speak of, has signed one! 'Thillalangadi', produced by actor-producer Prakashraj, has the boneless wonder in his first romantic pairing with Sneha. The film is directed by Balasekharan who had directed the successful Vijay-Suvalakshmi-starrer, 'Love Today'. If this film turns out successful, Prabhu Deva's career could
well get a second lease of life.

Heroine's hero
Ask any of the heroines to name their favourite hero and the standard answer you'll get is, "Every hero has his plus points", or some such vague, diplomatic reply! But Gayatri Raghuram, it seems, is different in this matter. Ask her who her favourite hero is, and you'll get a prompt, frank answer, "Surya." Gutsy girl!

Simran out, Esha in
 Simran is no longer in Maniratnam's new Tamil film. The actress was the only one of the heroines who was acting in the Hindi and Tamil versions. Now she will be doing only the Hindi one. It's all a matter of money, says a know-all! Simran's loss has been Esha Deol's gain. This celebrity daughter of Hema Malini-Dharmendra has now replaced Simran in the Maniratnam film, tentatively titled, 'Ayudha Ezhuthu'. With Esha's career not taking off in Hindi films, she could well establish herself in the south!
