Maniratnam is all praise for his assistant who had worked with him for 'Dil Se', 'Iruvar', and 'Bombay'. Sushi Ganesan who has had his apprenticeship with Maniratnam has turned independent director with the film 'Virumbukiren'. Reportedly Maniratnam has seen the film and told Sushi that he was quite impressed by his maiden effort. The director has reportedly even given the assistant an advance payment for directing a film for his banner. Well naturally Sushi Ganesan is thrilled these days.
