'Alavanthan'
 Shooting is going on at a fast pace for 'Alavanthan,' in which Kamalahasan plays a dual role. Suresh Krishna directs the film. But guess who was Kamal's first choice to direct the film? None other than his guru, director K.Balachander. When Kamal wrote the story years back (as a serial in a weekly), he thought he could make it into a feature film and have his mentor direct it. But when Balachander heard the story, he was not willing. for it was an action-oriented subject. Suresh Krishna has had his apprenticeship with Balachander. And one is sure that with his slick narrative style, Suresh will do a good job and not disappoint Kamal. With 'Hey Ram!' a flop and 'Marudanayagam' put on hold, Kamal is into making lighter films like 'Thenali' and 'Alavanthan.'
