PRIME programme for TN schools

The Society of Plastics and Rubber Technologists (SPART), Department of Rubber and Plastics Technology, Madras Institute of Technology, Anna University has decided to conduct an awareness programme on Plastics Recycling and its Impact on the Environment (PRIME) in schools all over Tamil Nadu.

K Ravichandran, President, SPART, said the aim of the programme was to create awareness about the need for plastics recycling and its growing importance in the minds of school students and the society.

The PRIME programme would cover about 100 schools where SPART will conduct competitions for the students in essay writing and painting competitions on plastics recycling. The organisation would also distribute pamphlets to the students and screen documentary films.

The Inaugural function will be held on October 30, 2003, at 0900 hrs at the Vivekananda Auditorium, Anna University, Chennai, Spart chairman R Sudersan said.

The Anna University Vice-Chancellor, Dr E Balagurusamy, will inaugurate the programme while Dr Sushil K Verma, Director-General, CIPET, will deliver the keynote address.
