TCS solution for City Union Bank
Tata Consultancy Services’ Next Generation Centralised Core Banking Software solution was launched by the City Union Bank (CUB), which celebrates its centenary year, at its newly-opened Ashok Nagar branch in Chennai. TCS CFO S Mahalingam inaugurated CUB’s new branch in Ashok Nagar, with fully computerised operations including ATM facility, and launched the software on the occasion.
The state-of-the-art solution from TCS gives the bank the capability of offering its clientele the most prestigious service in banking: 'Anywhere, Anytime and Anyhow Banking'. The bank proposes to operationalise the software in all its 123 branches before December 2004. Besides providing the software, TCS has undertaken the responsibility as system integrator, including networking and data centre set-up. Full-fledged implementation of the solution would enable customers access their bank accounts through multiple delivery channels like ATMs, Internet and mobiles on 'on-line-real-time' basis.
In a message congratulating CUB, TCS CEO S Ramadorai said this best of breed solution would give the bank speed and efficiency in operations, enabling centralised operations and giving a consolidated view of customers, accounts, transactions for quick decision-making. The bank will be able to reap the twin advantages of fast time to market in introducing banking products and creating customer delight by taking services to their own desktops.
V Narayanan, chairman of CUB, said with the introduction of core banking software of TCS, the bank would be very much on the road to attaining the most sought-after branding as a customer-oriented, technology-driven bank with a competitive edge.
