The World Technology Network
(WTN) has nominated Prof Ellappan
Balagurusamy, Vice-Chancellor of Anna University, for the education category of this year's world technology awards, being held in association with
Nasdaq, Microsoft, 'Time' and 'Science' magazines and CNN.
The winners would be announced on October 8 at the World Technology Awards ceremony at San Francisco City Hall at the conclusion of the two-day World Technology Summit.
The WTN honours individuals and corporations from 20 technology-related sectors viewed by their peers as being the most innovative and doing the work of the greatest likely long-term significance.
Balagurusamy, on hearing the news, said he was delighted to have been nominated for the education category of the 2004 World Technology Awards - recognition from one's peers means so much more than other kinds of honours, he said.
Nominees for the 2004 awards were identified based on an intensive, global process in which current WTN members made their nominations based on who they think is doing innovative work of the greatest likely long-term significance within the particular field.
