Career guidance seminar on ITeS
 Scope International, in partnership with ELCOT, is organising a career guidance seminar for IT-enabled services at Bertram Hall in Loyola College, Nungambakkam, on December 11. The focus of the seminar is to highlight the opportunities and growth potential in ITeS for the younger generation.
The seminar is targeted at the second and third-year students, parents and lecturers. Over 30 arts and science colleges in the city and districts are expected to participate.
The growth of IT-enabled Services (ITeS) has opened windows for various service offerings from India, creating new job opportunities. The arrival of several internationally reputed companies and the inflow of foreign investments are signals of an era where India, particularly Chennai, will be a key player and business partner in global corporate strategy blueprints.
The seminar aims to educate the target group on specific areas of work, skills required at entry level for different verticals, growth opportunities, career options, human capital requirement and information on training centres, that are catering specifically to BPOs. The seminar will cover the following verticals within the BPO fold:
Banking operations
Voice and data
e-publishing
HR services
Equity Research/Analytics
Legal transcription
Training in ITeS.
Senior executives from Scope International, Sutherland Technologies, Office Tiger, Wipro Spectramind, Alden Press, Lason India and Ma Foi will make presentation at the seminar. Information about the participating companies will be set up at the venue to enable the students to learn more about the BPO opportunities and industry leaders in the space.
The presentations will include a brief introduction of the company, nature of business, history of company and infrastructure, breadth of services, growth and expansion plans and people demographics, career opportunities available, growth prospects, training offered by them, recruitment parameters and skill sets requirements. A Q&A session at the end will address queries from the audience.

ELCOT, the nodal agency of the Government of Tamil Nadu for implementing its ITeS policy, plays a pro-active role in the ITeS initiatives of the state.
