Tata Elxsi centre in Chennai
 Tata Elxsi Limited has announced the launch of their Chennai Design and Development Center located in Teynampet, Anna Salai,
Chennai.
The centre will initially focus on providing networking services to customers in India as well as globally.
In networking, Tata Elxsi offers end-to-end design and development services ranging from architecture design to productisation for cutting-edge products in broadband access, IP networks, convergence and home networking. At the outset, the Chennai facility will focus on wireless technology - both wireless LAN and long-range wireless infrastructure.

Head of the Design & Development Centre in Chennai, Jayen Gourishankar, added, "What excites us is the talent pool in Chennai. Networking is a very niche technology area and finding the right skill sets is a constant process. We are hoping to recruit around 100 specialists in the next 3 months and increase the number to around 500 gradually. Given the technology talent in the city, we are confident of meeting our recruitment target quickly."
Tata Elxsi services address the needs of product manufacturers across the layers of hardware and software, ranging from intelligent silicon design and micro coding of network processors to developing protocols, security features, quality of service (OoS) functionality and network management software and applications. Its expertise spans areas like processors, firmware, DSP software, RTOS, drivers, operating systems, communication protocols, multimedia, and streaming.
 Tata Elxsi helps product manufacturers introduce new products faster and save up to 70 per cent on product R&D costs. Tata Elxsi builds hardware and software components for products that are deployed in parts of Access, Metro and Core networks. Backed by over 1,000 person years of experience, Elxsi has the expertise of working across numerous projects ranging from devices used in broadband infrastructure, IP networks, wireless communications and convergence, Jayen Gourishankar said.
The distinctive ability to provide end-to-end product development services for the networking product vendors gives Tata Elxsi the added advantage. From developing a multimedia messaging system for mobile phones, to building the entire hardware, FPGA and embedded software for a media gateway for the video-conferencing market, or architecting the complete software for a Layer 2 LAN switch with both wired and wireless LAN features, Tata Elxsi is able to meet customer requirements consistently, he added.
