CSS expands operations in Chennai

San Jose-headquartered Cybernet Software Systems (CSS) Inc., a software services provider with offshore operations in Chennai, has announced that it plans to hire 300 IT professionals in India, taking its head count to 750. These employees will be based out of CSS' offshore facilities in Chennai. On the infrastructure expansion front, CSS Inc. plans to add 15,000 sq ft over the next two quarters in Chennai. This expansion is on the back of significant offshore IT outsourcing deals that the company has struck recently and is expected to cost Rs 2 crore.

CSS Inc. has announced that it has signed IT outsourcing agreements with Business Signatures Corporation, a company that provides end-to-end strategies and solutions for online application and infrastructure management, fraud detection and prevention and Navic Networks, a leading interactive television technology and service provider to the cable industry in the US. These two software development deals are each expected to translate into good revenues, with potential to grow into multi-year agreements, Shiv Kumar, CEO, CSS, said in Chennai.

CSS Inc. has also expanded its presence in the online advertisement industry. 'Operative (Trafficmac)', a company exclusively focused on delivering products and services that manage online advertising operations, has expanded significantly its engagement with CSS Inc. trebling the deal size to $ 1.5 million a year.

CSS' solution for Trafficmac has been broken into four key business modules - Ad Inventory Management, Ad Sales Management, Ad Operations Management and Finance Management. Independent development teams at CSS have been tasked for parallel development of the four modules.

Shiv Kumar said, "We are pleased with the progress we have made in the last two quarters. In the product engineering space, we are seeing a lot of traction. We believe that there is a big market for boutique players like CSS Inc. With our focus on niche technology areas, we are well positioned to tap into this market."

For Navic, a leading interactive television technology and service provider to the cable industry in the US, CSS Inc., is developing a Set-top Box Simulator for Interactive Television (iTV). For 'Video on Demand', CSS Inc. is developing a fully interactive video service in which the end-user can request and control a personal copy of a desired movie.

Using Navic Networks' technology, cable and satellite operators today are deploying compelling interactive television and enhanced advertising applications at the lowest total per subscriber cost. Operators are utilising it to better manage operations, provide new entertainment options, and develop revenue growth opportunities from digital upgrades and advertising sales.

For Business Signatures Corporation, CSS is developing modules that are delivered as add-ons to the main product suite, deployed at Business Signatures' client's sites, to integrate the product with other enterprise systems.

Commenting on CSS' core strengths and its growth plans, Suresh Subramaniam, head, India Operations, CSS Inc., said, "We have been successful in delivering complex engagements with a high component of offshore execution, resulting in 100 per cent referrable customers. About 90 per cent of our global revenues are from offshore operations. Our strategy is to leverage this core competency for faster organic growth."

CSS Inc., offers cutting-edge IT solutions across a range of industry and technology segments to Enterprises and Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) and is the parent firm of the CSS Group which also has SlashSupport (Technical Support), ReadyTestGo (Software Testing) and Synaptris (Software Products) under its fold. The company is an SEI CMMI Level 4 company.

CSS' offerings include:

a. Product Engineering - Product co-development, Re-Engineering and Migration
b. Enterprise Services- Advisory Services, Enterprise Solutions, Sustenance Management and e-Business Solutions

CSS Inc. offers greater business value through synchronisation of business and IT objectives, faster ROI, considerably lighter burden on client management bandwidth, and rapid development life cycles.
