Maran launches Midas' Test Lab
Union Minister for Communications and IT, Dayanidhi Maran, launched India's First True Wireless Broadband System for mass deployment by a Chennai-based telecom equipment provider, Midas Communication Technologies, at its premises in Neelangarai, a Chennai suburb, recently. He also unveiled its Advanced EMI/EMC Test Laboratory.
The Minister lauded the work of Midas in promoting broadband facilities and said they should not rest on their laurels but look at other frontiers. The Union government's aim was that every classroom should have a computer, and teachers should use them to give real-time experience to students instead of just using blackboards. Companies like Midas should also join hands with the Union government in a public-private partnership for e-governance, ensuring that the scheme goes the last mile.
Maran said he was glad to note that what was brought about at R and D centres in IIT Madras a year ago had now come out as products.
