Polaris launches Collect.NET
Polaris Software has launched Collect.NET - its collections and recovery solution for the financial services sector - based on the recently launched Microsoft's SQL Server 2005 and Visual Studio 2005 - the next versions of Microsoft's database server and developer tools offering.
Collect.NET provides financial services companies with an all-in-one solution for improving collections and enhancing customer relationships.
By using Collect.NET, organisations can collect information on multiple products and/or services and link together collections cases for a single customer. Collect.NET also helps collection agents make the most intelligent treatment decisions based on the breadth of a customer's existing relationship with the
organisation.
Anandhi Krishnan, assistant vice-president, Polaris Software Lab, said, "Our strategy for growth is three-pronged - increase, speed-to-market and reduce cost and risk. Visual Studio 2005 together with SQL Server 2005, will help us deliver powerful, scalable and affordable customised solutions quickly to our banking and financial services customers. We have seen the developer productivity increase three-fold due to using Visual Studio 2005."
Collect.NET automates delinquency tracking, follow-up reminders and issue escalation. Agents can view a customer's entire delinquency history; a recent payment made, and promises broken. The solution can be easily adapted to any collection strategy and provides modules and capabilities for supervisory control, resource allocation, and customised incentive plans.
Sheila Gulati, director, Developer and Platform Evangelism, Microsoft India, said, "Collect.NET combines the capabilities of the Microsoft platform - Visual Studio 2005, SQL Server 2005 and Windows Server 2003 - with Polaris' experience and expertise in creating solutions for the financial services industry. Collect.NET has been through rigorous benchmarking and is proven as a great solution for banks and other lending institutions across the country."
Polaris is a leading ISV in India, and a provider of "smart legacy modernisation services" to the banking, financial and insurance industry and this platform move allowed Polaris to improve developer productivity three-fold along with creating a cost-effective and highly scalable offering. Polaris enrolled in the Microsoft Ascend Program for Yukon and Whidbey in July 2004 and developed Collect.NET as a part of this technology showpiece program.
Polaris had conducted a performance and scalability testing at Intel Labs, Bangalore. With SQL Server 2005, Polaris can process 2.5 million records and upload an additional 10 million records within approximately 2.5 hours of downtime. With normal 2-processor servers for the database and application server, Collect.NET was able to handle 200 transactions per minute with less than 70 per cent CPU utilisation and maintain the second page response time.
Anand Mukundan, Solution Architect, Polaris said, "SQL Server far surpasses the performance and scalability of the existing solution. Collect .NET can easily process 2.5 million records under two-and-a-half hours with an additional data upload of 10 million records."
Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 is the world's most popular development environment for designing, developing and testing next-generation Windows solutions and Web applications and services. Improvements to Windows, Web, mobile, and Office-based development enable organisations to deliver a variety of modern solutions more productively than ever before.
Visual Studio Team System expands the Visual Studio product line with new software lifecycle tools that enable greater communication and collaboration throughout the software development lifecycle. With Visual Studio 2005, businesses can deliver modern service-oriented solutions more efficiently.
Microsoft SQL Server 2005 is comprehensive, integrated data management and analysis software that enables organisations to reliably manage mission-critical information and confidently run today's increasingly complex business applications.
