Microsoft launches Starter Edition for TN
Microsoft Corporation India Pvt Ltd launched 'Windows XP Starter Edition for India' in Tamil Nadu on June 16, 2006. Windows XP Starter Edition for India is a unique offering created specially for first-time PC users who are looking for a simple, easy-to-use and localised PC, said Rishi Srivastava, director, Windows Client Business Group, Microsoft India.
The Windows XP Starter Edition for India PCs includes a Tamil and an English language interface, allowing users to easily switch between the two based on their requirement. In addition, the product includes extensive user training and support to help a first-time user get familiar with a PC.
The Windows XP Starter Edition for India PCs will be available from HCL and Sahara Computers across 10 cities in Tamil Nadu such as Chennai, Coimbatore, Trichy, Madurai, Erode, Salem, Tirupur, Tuticorin, Karur and Pattukottai, besides Pondicherry. These products have been priced at Rs 13,999 or at Rs 399 per month, in case the consumers avail of the finance scheme through SBI Cards.
The Windows XP Starter Edition for India PCs will also include products and services such as an anti-virus from QuickHeal and education content from Edurite. Right now, the product is available in a multi-lingual format enabling customers to switch to Tamil, English or Hindi at will, Rishi said, adding that the service would be available in nine more Indian languages in a few months.
Microsoft will run 'Asli Lao Inam Pao' a promotion to reward customers buying the product from recognised vendors. The scheme offers several benefits and prizes. Customers can win prizes every week including a trip to Disneyland.
