Qmax JV with American firm
Qmax, already a market leader in the Asia Pacific region through its innovative and hi-tech Electronic Automated Test Equipment (ATE) systems, has signed a joint venture agreement with Wayne Kerr Electronics of the US. Qmax products will now be available in the North American market under the co-branded name 'Wayne Kerr
Qmax'.
Chennai-based Qmax are successful because of the leading edge technology, said its founder S R Sabapathi. "Its innovative solutions have always kept pace with fast-changing electronics and automation field. Qmax's 3rd generation ATEs have been designed and equipped to perform multiple test techniques to test today's new technology PCBs which have high pin count ICs like FPGAs and BGAs which cannot be normally tested using conventional ATE systems," Sabapathi added.
Its new innovative Micro-ATE system for Semi-Con Test has won great appreciation from its first user and repeat orders speak for its effectiveness and cost savings in Semi-con Test industry, Sabapathi said. Qmax has supplied semi-con testers to Agilent, Singapore, IDT, Philippines, UNICEM, Malaysia.
Wayne Kerr Electronics, is a leader in test and measurement and functional test system and a well-known name in the US with well-established sales and service networks. As a result of the JV, Qmax expects a better and closer pre- and post-sale services to its customers and is poised for a quantum jump in its global market share, thus placing India in the global map of ATE manufacturers, hitherto dominated only by large MNCs, he added.
Qmax has signed MoUs with giants like Den-on, Japan, in the soldering, de-soldering and BGA re-work fields, Extech, US, for hand-held meters and YesTech, UK, for X-ray inspection systems. It recently entered into an agreement with Comprion, Germany, for testing mobile phones, which is the booming industry in India now.
The infrastructure of Qmax includes a 33,000 sq ft spacious facility at Sholinganallur, the IT hub of Chennai. It is an ISO 9001 certified design, development and manufacturing facility. The products being designed, engineered and manufactured here include automatic test equipment and related equipment for PCS repair, production testing and semi-con testing.
