Maran opens MindTree’s Chennai centre
Union Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Dayanidhi Maran, inaugurated the Chennai development centre of MindTree Consulting, a leading international IT and R&D services company, at the Olympia Tech Park in Guindy on October 18, 2006. MindTree has chosen Chennai for its expansion outside Bangalore and has set up a 30,000 square feet development centre here.
MindTree’s Chennai campus not only adheres to global standards but also reflects the spirit of innovation that MindTree institutes on its campuses. In addition to the centre at Olympia Tech Park, MindTree has also signed up for a 285,000 square feet facility at the Ascendas IT Park in Mahindra World City which is expected to be operational in 2007-08.
Earlier this year, MindTree also entered into a 90-year lease agreement for 20 acres of land with the Government of Orissa. This will be used to set up a development centre in
Bhubaneswar.
MindTree has started full-fledged operations in the Chennai centre and targets recruiting 300 people by the end of the fiscal year. MindTree will provide services in both IT-related and R&D areas.
In his inaugural address, Minister Maran said, "I am pleased to declare open MindTree's Chennai Operations today and wish them outstanding success in the years to come. In the decades ahead, India will need to produce hundreds of such enterprises so that the larger dream of bringing hope and prosperity to her billion children becomes a reality. In 2005-06, MindTree posted an impressive 83.6 per cent growth in revenue over the previous year, thereby crossing $ 100 million in revenue in six years, said
