Award for Sundram Fasteners
Sundram Fasteners Ltd, India’s
auto components major has received the 'Outstanding Quality Achievement Award'
from Saturn Spring Hill Manufacturing Company for the year 2003. Saturn Spring
Hill Manufacturing is a subsidiary of General Motors.
The theme of the Award was
'Partners in Quality Excellence' and Sundram Fasteners was recognised as one
of the most outstanding partners of General Motor’s Saturn Corporation.
Sundram Fasteners had met the stringent requirements of Spring Hill
Manufacturing Company by providing top quality ancillaries and services and
this award is a recognition of their outstanding performance.
SFL commenced production in
1966 as a small-scale industry manufacturing nuts and bolts in the Ambattur
industrial area in Chennai. Today, the company has six manufacturing units in
India (Chennai , Madurai, Pondicherry, Hosur, Hyderabad, Gummidipoondi).
Recently, Sundram Fasteners
became the first company in the engineering sector to set up a factory in
China in the name of Sundram Fasteners (Zhejiang) Ltd., a 100% subsidiary of
SFL.
Sundram Fasteners acquired
Autolec, a leading manufacturer of oil pumps, fuel pumps, water pumps and
other automotive components in 1999. In December 2003, SFL acquired the
Cramlington Precision Forging, U.K. unit of Dana Spicer Europe Ltd.
