Airtel and the Rotaract Club of Madras Coromandel presented ‘Parallel Music Fest 2008’ recently in the city at Music Academy. N.Murali, Managing Director, The Hindu inaugurated the occasion and the guests of honours were Sangita Kalanidhi, Clarinet Maestro A.K.C.Natarajan and Anirban Ghosh, COO of Bharti Airtel Ltd.
It was a very good platform for the differently abled as they gave music performances and dance performances. This is the 4th successful year of the music festival and is dedicated to the physically challenged people. The music festival conducted during the music season- December helps these special people to showcase their talents in the filed of music.

Speaking on the occasion, Anirban Ghosh, COO of Bharti Airtel Ltd said, “Airtel has been interested in associating itself with music and in line with the coming music season, is Parallel Music Festival which has been happening for the past 3 years. Its main focus is on fostering the talent of the differently abled people.”
N.Murali, MD of The Hindu who was the chief guest at the festival said that the month of December is the goal stand of music season and praised the Rotaract Club of their initiative to showcase the differently abled people’s talents. “The spirit of social service is lifted by the Rotaract club and it’s a fantastic idea of organizing such a show for them. I feel, the differently abled are more talented than anyone else in music. There is a bridge coming up between them and the mainstream society.”
The programme included performances by Shri Maruthiprasad on carnatic vocal, Hindustani vocal by Roshan Rajan and Ritvik Rajan, flute by Kalaimamani Shashidharan. There was a Bharatanatyam performance by Ms.Jayalakshmi Eswar which was followed by Talavadhyam by Kalaimamani H.Ramakrishnan and a Violin performance by Sangita Kalanidhi Shri M.Chandrasekaran accompanied by his daughter Smt G.Bharati.
