How will it be when two maestros perform at one stage? How will it be
when it is given in a classic way? How will it be when everything about it
is so good? The experience just can't be expressed. Margazhi Raagam starring
veteran singers Bombay Jayashri and T.M.Krishna is one such mesmerizing
experience. Directed by Jayendra, the 110 min musical film is treat to music
lovers this Margazhi season. The film is produced by Aghal films C.Srikanth
in association with Real Image.
It is Bombay Jayashri who starts off with Mayadeetha Swaroopini in
Mayamamava Gowla raga and then moves on to a Rithigowla, a composition of
Subbiah Sasthri. Bombay Jayashri has a very melodious and a melancholic
voice and she explores swaras and sangadhis in each song. The next song
Jananininuvina Amba was started by Jayashri and T.M.Krishna completed it.
From then, the stage was all his as he started with Saramaina Matta Lintho
and moved on to another Telugu song called Seethapathy Namana Suna, a
Thiyagarajar composition in Kamas raga.
He then sang Bramhaivajham chila and it had various transitions and
modulations. He has a out thrown and a bold voice. The next song had just
Jayashri and T.M.Krishna and two thambura's. She started with Kararavindha
and soon, he continued with it and sang Jagadho Dharana with utmost devotion
that there was divinity in the air. A composition of Purandharadhasar, his
voice was just mesmerizing. The movie ended off with Jaya Jaya Vande Mataram
sung by both of them which gave a patriotic feel. Dressed in all white and
also the sets in white, this song gave an ultimate finale to the whole
movie.
Both Jayashri and T.M.Krishna's voices renders a different feel. The
mirudangam and the violin are way too excellent. The whole set is neat and
gives a classic look as each background is changed to match the mood of the
song. Draped in blue and golden laces, the set is beautifully designed by
Rajeevan. Yet another commendable job by P.C.Sreeram as all the shots and
angles gives the movie a rich look. Editing by Satissh Kurusowa is a perfect
match for the musical treat. The lighting is sober and a golden color effect
is given to it.
Margazhi Raagam
is a must watch for
all music lovers and
especially by Bombay
Jayashri and
T.M.Krishna's fans.
Everything has
fallen well in
place. From lighting
to the sets and
costumes, it is all
too perfect. But the
only disadvantage is
that the target
audience is
restricted to the
music lovers only.
The big question
to be thought is
that whether people
will watch a 110
minute movie of just
ragas and swaras?
