Gana Sabha - Sri Saketharaman.
Honor with honor - violin support by R.K.Sriram kumar and mridangam by -
believe me "mridanga chakravarthy" Umayalpuram K Sivaraman.
Starting from bright bekada varnam, scintillating shanmugapriya,
manasuloni hindolam, elaborated beautiful bairavi, strong kapi "enna thavam"
- especially the word 'thaalaa aa tta' - excellent saketha!
A request to the organisers - if the sound level had been maintained one
grade low - especially for the thala vadyas - rasikas could have enjoyed the
picnic with saketharaman, more.
Raagam sisters - Vani Mahal.
Their names are Sivaranjani and Nalinakanthi - both are beatiful raaga
names. They are daughters of the 'Therezhundhur sisters' somebody told.
They sang very well. The rare raaga "sarangi" which resembled "charukesi"
to a greater extent - and the song "malaiyaadhe maname" of Kotiswara iyer
deserves a special mention. The elaborate harikamboji and thyagaraja's
krithi, "Entharaani" had a lot of fire works in their rendering. Taking up
the rare raagas and krithis is a welcome attempt. So, keep it up - raaga
sisters!
Vani mahal - Sri Sanjay Subramanian - + Myore Nagaraj + Guruvayur Dorai +
T.V.Vasan.
The combination is one of the excellent troops. All my brothers, sisters,
nephews and nieces are Sanjay fans. So, anything I write here will become
one sided. Yet I should mention here, the 'sobillu' (Jaganmohihni) and the
karaharapriya krithi "korisevimparaave" both of Thyagaraaja - which stole
the major portion of the concert. Saw shri TVG in the concert - till the end
of thani aavardhanam. One of the memorable concerts of this season.
