Celebration time at Kishkintha
The distinction of setting up the biggest 'Golu' was undoubtedly Kishkintha's. People, not surprisingly, were wonderstruck by the 60 ft. wide and 12 ft. high 'Golu' steps. The 7-step Kishkintha auditorium was transformed into 'Golu' steps. This 'Giant Golu' was put up by not only 'Golu experts' but by a number of 'Golu' enthusiasts. A total of 7 groups participated in this 'Golu' contest. The participants took one day to arrange their dolls artistically on the steps. The 'Golu' came to life a day before Navarathri started. The steps, with beautiful white spreads, lighting etc., was arranged for and provided by Kishkintha.
On Oct. 15, actress Kushboo gave away the prizes to the winners of the Golu contest. The first prize was a microwave oven, worth Rs 9900, the second prize was worth Rs.6000 and the third prize was worth Rs.3000. Kishkintha organised this Giant Golu with the idea of preserving our culture and tradition. This objective was achieved in no small measure as evidenced by the grand success of this event. Chennaiites are looking forward eagerly to the next event from Kishkintha! Nalini Sampathkumar Tr Ellar
