Body beautiful - now and always

Style

Never forget to clean your skin thoroughly before going to bed, so that your skin can breathe freely at night. It is much healthier to eat a well-balanced diet, so skip the fast food and substitute fresh nutritious foods such as fruits, vegetables and whole grains. If you do appear to be sensitive to a particular food, cut it out of your diet.

Drinking plenty of water also helps maintain soft, clear, clean skin by flushing toxins out of your body. Equal parts of lime and cucumber juices act as stringent and help to bleach the skin.

Try a mild, soap-free cleansing bar or wash-off cleanser and rinse with warm water. Avoid using soap or strongly medicated products which can strip away the skin’s natural protective barrier of oils. Follow with a light, oil-free moisturizer that won’t clog pores and cause blackheads.

To keep your feet free from cracks, immerse your feet in lukewarm water to which lemon juice and coconut oil have been added. Scrub with a pumice stone after 20 minutes. Dry and apply cream liberally.

Brittle nails which split easily should be painted over with colourless iodine before applying nail polish; never use acetone on the nails, for it is best to invest in a really good quality remover.

To keep your body soft and smooth in winter, mix equal parts of olive, mustard and sesame oil and massage it all over the body an hour before your bath. This oil is very good for the skin and leaves it smooth and free from blemishes.

An egg pack does wonders for your skin. First beat up the white of the egg and apply it on the face. When it dries up, beat up the yolk and apply that over the white. When that dries and the skin feels taut, wash it off with warm water. This mask closes the pores and greatly refreshes the face.

Stop pimples in their tracks by mixing some yeast with plain yogurt and applying to the face. Allow it to stay for a few minutes, then wipe clean.
