Stunning hair colours

The markets are flooded with a wide range of hair colour brands to choose from! Hair colouring has become a very popular concept for some time now. Today, even amidst a crowd, one can spot a variety of blacks, browns and redheads popping out. And why won’t people dare to have a different look when all they have to do is pick the right colour for their hair?

A few factors that should be taken into consideration while deciding on the right hair colour are - the complexion, eye colour, natural hair texture, health of the scalp, age, lifestyle, personality, attitude, colour preference in the wardrobe and so on. So when we see somebody stealing the show with a stunning hair colour it is precisely due to the expert permutation and combination of these factors while choosing the right hair colour.

Normally the shades of reds, burgundies, plums, mahogany go well with the dark, tanned, Indian skin tones. The coppers and the dark blonds are ideal for the medium to wheatish complexion. The fair skins are, of course, the privileged lot who can try out any shade including the bold, funk colours, and light blonds.

If a natural base colour of the hair be dark while the target shade is light, like that of the blonds, bleaching or what is called pre-lightening, technically, has to be done. One can also experiment with hair colours by weaving patterns, drawing star patterns, applying horizontal streaks, colouring only the ends and many such creative, funky patterns!. There are shades of blacks, browns, reds and blonds which come in varieties of light, dark, iridescent, natural, gold reflects and so on.

A hair colour pack has a colour developer, a conditioner and a pair of gloves. The instructions are to be read carefully and the liquid colour has to be mixed with the developer and applied on unwashed, dry hair. It has to be kept for some 35 to 40 minutes before it can be emulsified and rinsed off well with the hair conditioner.

The difference between the natural base colour of the hair and the target shades determine the number of coats to be applied. The colours might have a drying effect on the hair, but there are shampoos and conditioners to counter that effect.

Permanent colours last for a month or 6 weeks after which the new hair roots have to be touched up. The semi-permanent colours, of course, fade away with 10 washes with shampoo. But nevertheless, according to popular belief, a colourful head can make a person look very gorgeous!
