Brother-sister duo launch unisex salon
One would think that the grand-children of music maestro M S Viswanathan would launch a music album or go in for an audio studio. However, Bounce–Style Lounge, an unisex salon for the entire family, focussed on Hair Care, is what Vikram and Prarthana - two youngsters barely out of college - have come up with.
MSV's daughter Latha Mohan has already been in this line of activity for over two decades in Chennai. Therefore, there could be little surprise over what her children would like to do.
On the 12th February 2004 at Ispahani Centre, Nungambakkam, Chennai, opens the salon of Vikram and Prarthana --
spread over approximately 2,000 sq. ft. Bounce promises to bring to Chennai, the latest and the best trends in Hair Styling and beauty care and nail care from across the fashion capitals of the world, they said.
Vikram and Prarthana said they had their grooming at an early age from their mother Latha Mohan, who is in this business for over two decades at Kanya Beauty Salon. To get a better understanding in the Hair care, they have undergone training with the expert stylists in India as well as at Toni& Guy, Pivot Point Singapore and Saks Academy, Vidal Sasson, London.
Vikram pointed out, “Hair Styling is not just about cutting hair, it is also about knowing the client’s lifestyle, personality, hair texture and face structure. The hair stylist has to study all the aspects and then decide on the exact requirement of the individual. Here, experience and expertise come together. Our earlier training coupled together with international exposure has given us the confidence that, in this business, Bounce would be second to none."
Bounce – Style Lounge, has a truly unisex concept. It has a see-through centre, open on all sides. It gives one the feeling of being in a lounge. The customers can relax and enjoy themselves till their turn comes. Bounce will offer Hair Styling (hair coloring, perming, streaking, permanent straightening ) and latest trends in hair cut.
Prarthana said, “Hair dressing is basically an art. It is a highly creative profession and you know you have to bring out the best with the hair you are working on. It is not only just a flat cut but also other factors like colouring, which gives a lot of movement, texture and adds shine to the hair."
The size of the beauty salon industry is estimated at between Rs 1,500 to 1,800 crore and it is growing at an average of 40 % per year. Which is perhaps one reason why youngsters like Vikram and Prarthana have chosen this as their prime time activity.
