Hidesign, the leading leather brand, has launched a brand new range of leather accessories and garments - the Romantics. The Spring - Summer 2003 collection, expresses an indulgently feminine, ethereal but modern spirit - with an air of enchantment and escape! To suit the mood, Hidesign expresses its appreciation and excitement to have some of the most exciting stars in India - Bipasha Basu, John Abraham and Pooja Bhatt - to launch this new range.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Dilip Kapur, President - Hidesign, said, "Internationally, Bollywood is a tremendous source of inspiration for fashion designers. We have also taken our inspiration from this most romanticised of Indian icons to compliment the distinct mood of our range. We are happy to have some of the most beautiful people from the world of Indian cinema to lend their charisma to the line."
The range focuses attention on exquisite craftsmanship - a Hidesign forte - with sophisticated detailing. Weaving, embossing and hand painting help soften the sharp lines of bags, and leather jackets offer soft sensuousness in their feel and drape. The colours are feminine - dusty pinks, vintage and luscious blue with light tans and browns predominate.
The range has been researched and worked on for over 4 months and is one of the initiatives of Hidesign's in-house design teams both in India and the UK, who bring with them years of design experience, and dynamic association with international fashion circles.
"The Romantics is a landmark range for Hidesign. We are planning very exciting products and lines in the coming seasons. Product innovation, and sophistication in design are distinct Hidesign advantages - and our design teams will help us leverage them effectively," added Mr.
Kapur.
The Hidesign label occupies prime shelf space at prestigious retail outlets across the world, including
Selfridges, Liberty and John Lewis in the U.K., David Jones and Myers in Australia, Stuttaford's and Edgars in South Africa, Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus in the US and Magasin Du Nord in Denmark.
Hidesign follows traditional methods of manufacture and tanning that reflect a care for the craftsman, craftsmanship and the environment using processes, which have long since disappeared from the modern leather industry. The leather is grain cowhide, vegetable tanned and hand dyed. The different absorption properties of each hide allow for a natural variation of colour.
