To attempt this task of exploring the hidden treasure and to increase the vibrancy of this historic city, coming December, the Aurangabad Festival Committee, will be organizing for the first time in the history of the city the, 'Aurangabad Festival'. The exquisite four-day festival will get underway from 21st to 24th December 2002, at the expansive campus of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, adjoining the historic Sohneri Mahal.

'Aurangabad Festival', promises to offer to its viewers an experience of timelessness of art, past and present, merge for an everlasting moment. An environment, in which, the city will bear testimony to a long-standing tradition of culture. A panoramic insight into the city's rich local art, culture, heritage, through classical dance performances, popular songs, folk dances, Mushaira, Qawalli, Ghazals by India's well-known performing artistes.

The festival will also exhibit the local handlooms and handicrafts like Paithani Himroo, Bidri and Paperwork. The other attractions include, heritage walk for senior citizens, traditional bullock cart race, marathon, inter-school and inter-college competitions, etc.

Aurangabad Festival is a platform that will showcase the treasure of this historic city that most of us are yet unaware of. Till date this city continues to be recognized owing to its proximity with world heritage sites of Ajanta and Ellora, known for the Buddhist, Jain and Hindu Temples. However, there is much more that the city can offer to the travellers. Aurangabad has multiple known and unknown places of interests that dot the entire city and its periphery.....
