The state of Goa on the Konkan coast on the Western ghats of India, attracts a large number of tourists , from the kids, youngsters to the old. The coastline of Goa is 131 kms long and is rightly called 'Pearl of the East'. This state with its shoreline opening to the Arabian sea has succeeded in winning over the hearts of all its tourists. 

Important Beaches in Goa

Calangute: This beach is  called as 'queen of beaches'. The beach, which stretches itself to seven kms, is one of the most popular holiday resorts. It is located 16 kms  from Panaji. The coconut trees surrounding the houses near the beaches enhance the beauty of the resorts, leaving no doubt about the constant demand for them.

Colva Beach: The spell binding combination of the sand, sea and sky is the greatest attraction of this beach. It is 6 kms away from Margao. The place sports splendid scenic beauty and the beach also offers good accommodation. 

Arambol:  This beach is mainly frequented by foreign visitors. It lies about 50 kms North of Panaji.

 Agonda:  A beach popular amongst visitors preferring isolation and peace, this beach provides some extremely scenic beauty. It is located 37 kms away from Margao

Important Waterfalls

Dudhsagar Waterfalls:  This waterfall gets its name from the Konkani name 'Dudhsagar' which means 'the sea of milk'. It is called so because of the foamy waters formed from its gushing fall. Though a little dangerous due to its slippery rocks. It is a popular spot for trekking and hiking. It is the best to be visited after monsoons. The waterfall cascades from a height of hundreds of feet providing a home to various aquatic animals. 

Arvalem Waterfall: This waterfall, which cascades down from the mountains, from a height of 50 metres, is one of the most awe-amazing spots. This charming waterfall is a mind-blowing experience. The Rock cut caves are just situated nearby. The Government has also developed a park from which the view of the waterfall can be peacefully relished.

Access
Air: Goa (Dabolim Airport) is connected to Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Agatti, Delhi, Cochin, Pune and Kuwait by Jet Airways, Indian Airlines, Air India, Alliance, Sahara and Gujarat Airways. By air, Mumbai - Goa is only one hour journey.

Rail: Nearest and convenient railway stations Karmali (12 kms from Panaji) and Margao (35 kms from Panaji) are connected by train with Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Mangalore, Cochin and Thiruvananthapuram via the Konkan Railway. 

Road: Connected by road with Bangalore (598 kms), Mumbai (594 kms), Mysore (696 kms), Mangalore (371 kms), Pune (458 kms).
