Nestled in the lap of the Central Himalayas in the Kumaon

because numerous lakes are spread across its boundaries, the most prominent of which is Naini Lake,

Nainital, places of historical interest, the wildlife reserve, fruit orchards, religious sites and a beauteous landscape attract a variety of tourists. Places of interest Naini Peak (2610 mtrs) : tallest of all, at a height of 2610 metres and 5.5 kms away commands the finest views and, on a clear day, a wide range of the snow clad Himalayas is visible while from the summit is a bird's eye view of Nainital. There is a four room log cabin for tourists. Snow View (2270 mtrs) : A scenic place accessible by foot or on horse back. It gives a panoramic view of 250 kms of the Himalayan ranges. Dorothy's Seat (2292 mtrs) : A memorial to an English lady believed to have been killed in an air crash.
The spot commands a sectional view of the town and the nearby region. The peak was known as Ayarpatta Hill.
High Altitude Zoo (2075 mtrs) : It is at a distance of 1.5 kms from the Bus Station. It is famous for animals that live in high altitude regions.
Khurpatal : A real paradise for anglers, the lake is supposedly inhabited by numerous fish. It is 5 kms. from
Nainital.

mtrs) : Kilbury is a good place for a quiet weekend holiday and picnic. A forest rest house is available for stay. Apply to DFO Nainital for permit.

Ramgarh (1789 mtrs) : 25 kms : A picturesque hamlet in the heart of orchard land.
Mukteshwar (2286 mtrs.) 52 kms : A celebrated spot of scenic beauty and the seat of the Indian Veterinary research Institute.
Motia Pathar (2286 mtrs approx) 75 kms : The snow clad Himalayas are visible from here.

The Jim Corbett National Park is India's first national park, and was established in 1936. It is located on the banks of the Ramganga river and covers an area of 520 square
kms. It was here that Project Tiger was launched with the assistance of the World Wide Fund for Nature. It is now an ideal spot for flora and fauna Elephant rides are also available.
