Fakhar Zaman Faces Possible One-Match Ban for Ball Tampering in PSL 2026
Lahore Qalandars player Fakhar Zaman might receive a one-match ban after being caught tampering with the ball during a PSL 2026 match against Karachi Kings on Sunday.
The incident occurred during the final over of Karachi Kings’ chase, when Fakhar collected the ball from Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf. With 14 runs needed to win, Haris was set to bowl the final over. However, Fakhar and Shaheen joined Haris near the bowler’s area, exchanging the ball.
Fakhar appeared to alter the ball’s condition during this exchange. The on-field umpire intervened, and Karachi Kings requested a new ball. Lahore Qalandars were penalized five runs, reducing Karachi’s target from 14 to nine runs in the remaining six balls.
Fakhar was charged with a Level 3 offence under PCB rules for ball tampering, which carries a minimum one-match ban. He denied the charge during a hearing, and another hearing is scheduled within 48 hours.
Meanwhile, Karachi Kings won the match by four wickets after restricting Lahore Qalandars to 128/9, thanks in part to strong bowling from Adam Zampa and Moeen Ali.
