The event marked another significant milestone for one of South India’s leading hospitality education institutions, with graduates set to embark on careers across India
and international destinations. The degrees were conferred by Hony. Con. Prof. G. Ravi, Vice-Chancellor of Alagappa University, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

Speakers stressed that higher education institutions must increasingly focus on preparing students for opportunities that cannot yet be predicted rather than training them solely for existing professions.

At a time when students and parents are seeking clarity about the future of work, the discussions reinforced the need for higher education institutions to focus not only on employability but also on preparing learners to navigate continuous change throughout their professional lives.

The initiatives, supported under the Sakura Science Program facilitated by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), are fully funded programs that have received international appreciation for promoting scientific learning, cultural exchange, and global collaboration opportunities for Indian students and educational institutions. JST has now announced the opening of applications for the LOTUS long-term research program for Indian research students. The fully funded initiative aims to support 1,000 applicants for research exposure and academic collaboration opportunities in Japan during 2026. The last date for applications is June 9, 2026.

A major highlight of the initiative was the successful educational exchange visit of students from Oxalis International School to Takasaki High School near Tokyo in February 2026. Facilitated by KCCS under the Sakura Science Program, ten rural school students travelled to Japan to participate in an international AI-based project exchange focused on water conservation and sustainability.

The students presented their innovative “Not to Waste Water” AI project and participated in scientific learning sessions, innovation workshops, and cultural exchange activities alongside Japanese students. The visit provided first-hand exposure to advanced technologies, Japanese educational systems, research environments, and collaborative global learning platforms.

The initiative demonstrated how students from rural and government school backgrounds can successfully participate in international innovation programs when provided with the right guidance and opportunities. The exchange also strengthened people-to-people ties between India and Japan while encouraging students to think globally and innovate for social impact.

In addition to the Kallakurichi student exchange initiative, KCCS also facilitated educational partnership visits involving students from PSGR Krishnammal College for Women to Ochanomizu University, one of Japan’s historic educational institutions. The visit focused on strengthening STEM-based academic collaboration, international exposure, and future-ready learning opportunities for women students.

The women’s college delegation interacted with Japanese educational institutions, explored innovation ecosystems, and participated in discussions focused on technology, sustainability, research, and leadership opportunities for women in science and higher education. The initiative aimed to inspire young women students to actively participate in global academic and innovation platforms while building stronger educational partnerships between India and Japan.

The impact and execution of the program gained significant international recognition after the Government of Japan, through JST, showcased the exchange initiative to representatives from 95 countries as a successful global model for educational and cultural collaboration. The initiative has also been highlighted through official international social media platforms as an example of impactful cross-border academic engagement.

Further strengthening Indo-Japan collaboration, KCCS, along with a 17-member delegation team, will visit Japan from June 5 to explore opportunities in renewable energy sectors including biomass, green hydrogen, and electric energy technologies. The initiative aims to create awareness among students and educational institutions about global opportunities in sustainability, innovation, STEM education, research, and advanced technologies, while promoting women empowerment, international knowledge exchange, and the development of globally competent talent.

Cuban, who is also known as a former judge on Shark Tank, had appeared alongside Trump during the launch of TrumpRx.gov. The platform aims to lower the prices of around 600 generic medicines, making essential drugs more affordable for American citizens.

The initiative is being developed in partnership with several private companies, including Amazon and GoodRx. These companies are expected to help in improving access to lower-cost medicines through digital services and pricing tools.

Cuban’s appearance at the event attracted attention because of his political views. He has previously supported Kamala Harris and has often been critical of Trump in the past. His presence at the White House event led to discussions online about his role in the initiative.

In his now-deleted post, Cuban had defended his decision to attend the event, saying that the goal of lowering drug prices was more important than political differences. However, after facing criticism and public debate, he removed the post without giving a detailed explanation.

The TrumpRx initiative is part of a broader effort to address rising healthcare costs in the United States. Supporters say it could help millions of Americans save money on essential medicines, while critics are still reviewing how effective the program will be in practice.

Despite the controversy, the launch of TrumpRx has added to ongoing discussions in U.S. politics about healthcare reform and the role of private companies in public health programs.

The jury’s decision gives a clear win to OpenAI and ends one of the most closely followed legal battles in Silicon Valley. The case had attracted major attention because it involved some of the biggest names in the technology industry and raised important questions about the future of artificial intelligence companies.

The trial lasted about three weeks and included testimony from several well-known tech figures. During the hearings, Musk argued that OpenAI had moved away from its original purpose.
