With its sole commitment to serve, Maitri thrives on public awareness for its funds and support for the elderly. After 4 exemplary years of some commendable work Transforming and Healing the lives of the underprivileged elderly, the Frontenders Foundation is committed to caring for 1,00,000 (One Lakh) destitute seniors in 2020.

Over 70% of Indian’s elderly are financially dependent on others and with this being said, over 80% of the female population are economically dependent on others, for survival. Commenting on the occassion, Mr G.Srinivasan, Trustee of FrontEnders Foundation said, “We have come a long way since our inception and I take pride in what we have introduced for our seniors. With this being said, it gives me utmost happiness in adding a little more of love and care into our world. Our seniors are our pillars of guidance and wisdom, and if we don’t take care of them the way they did, we would miss out on so much more. We, at Frontenders Foundation, have always ensured that our people stay committed to our motives and we intend to keep it that way for a very long time.”

Some of the upcoming plans include, “One meal a day plan”, which will ensure the poor elderly are fed a bare minimum of one meal per day. A cataract surgery for the underprivileged elderly will be provided, along with any major surgery to be funded for underprivileged seniors every month.

Senior citizens who are in need, will receive the supply of free medication and will also receive access to the free supply of medical equipment. Moreover, basic infrastructural support to destitute old age homes along with medical camps will be set up every month to screen diabetes and other such tests for free.

Other planned initiatives also include offering pilgrimage support to several seniors every month for their spiritual well-being, counselling support for elders every month to enhance their mental health, with the additional supporting of funeral solemnities of elders every month.

With an added responsibility as one of the few Healthcare Foundations in India, Maitri aims to bring people together in order to emphasize on the importance of elderly care. Maitri is not only confined to the city of Chennai but is also broadened to the entire state of Tamil Nadu.
